Could Manchester United buy another Spanish goalkeeper from Atletico Madrid?
Could lightning strike twice? Could Manchester United buy another Spanish goalkeeper from Atletico Madrid? The answer to that question according to publication Marca is yes.
Marca is reporting that United are checking out 'another De Gea' at the Spanish club - A goalkeeper called David Gil.
Gil plays for Atletico Madrid's B side and is just 18-years-old.
He is part of Spain's youth set up and is already a part of the national under-20 squad.
Gil is yet to play a game for Atletico's first team, with Chelsea's on loan goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois occupying the number one spot vacated by David de Gea when he left for Manchester United.
De Gea was linked with a United exit at the weekend by The Mirror, and while Gil is not expected to replace him, United are reportedly keen to snap him up early at a knock down price to eventually provide competition for his Spanish counterpart.
Marca claim: "Another David, this time Gil, is the subject of the English club's interest and none other than Martin Ferguson, Sir Alex's brother and United's main scout in Spain, has been keeping a close eye on the player."
However their recent scouting mission was fruitless as the match they turned up to watch, Gil was not involved in, and they are expected to return to watch him in action in the future. Marca claim that instead, Ferguson has attended training sessions to catch him in action.
Would his capture be a shrewd move? What do you know about him?
