Manchester City trying to hijack Chelsea deal for Brazilian sensation

Manchester City are attempting to hijack Chelsea's deal for Brazilian star Taison.

Manchester City have been named as the 'mystery Premier League club' competing with Chelsea for the signature of Taison.

The Brazilian plays for Ukrainian side Metalist Kharkiv and has been particularly impressive in the Europa League, scoring a sensational volley which was compared to the great Marco van Basten.

Kharkiv have agreed a fee with Chelsea for £11 million, but given the Blues a 48 hour deadline to finalise the move, but the interest of competing clubs has complicated the transfer.

Manchester City have been named by The Mirror as the club trying to beat Chelsea to his signature, along with fellow Ukrainians Shakhtar Donetsk, although Taison is expected to prefer a move to the Premier League.

Reports in Italy have also suggested that City's interest may drive up Kharkiv's asking price for Taison, forcing Chelsea to re-negotiate the transfer fee.

Taison is a versatile attacker who can play up front, and wide on either flank ideally in a 4-3-3. He this month admitted to going on a tour of Chelsea's training ground and meeting Roman Abramovich, so it is suspected the player favours a move to Stamford Bridge.
