Transfer Focus: Where Swansea City need to strengthen

Michael Laudrup's Swansea City have produced some really good performances this season with the 2-0 win away at Arsenal being the standout of those but inconsistency continue to be the problem.

Attacking wise, Laudrup has created a side worthy of taking on the very best. Michu is accompanied by Jonathon De Guzman who has refound the form that made him one of La Liga's top performers with Mallorca and then Villarreal.

Wayne Routledge has played an important role for the club, whilst Nathan Dyer and Pablo Hernandez provide Michu with all the chances he needs.

Defensively they are solid but they have leaked to many goals this season. That may be due to the absence of first choice keeper Michael Vorm, who has been out with an injury.

His return will be vital to the club but Laudrup may want to sign an extra defender or two to ensure they can get some much needed clean sheets.

Where do they need to strengthen?

Defence and midfield. A huge amount of plaudits must go to South Korean Ki but he is unlike Joe Allen in many ways and Laudrup may be on the search for a new defensive midfielder who simply just sits and and fills in for the defence at times.

Attacking wise, Danny Graham may be leaving the club with a move to Norwich or Reading mentioned so Laudrup will look to sign another striker.

Top Targets

It is highly likely that the Danish coach will look to Spain for his January signings as they have proven to perform this season. Links to David Villa of Barcelona are wide of the mark but a striker with those sort of qualities is exactly what Laudrup wants to compliment the in-form Michu.

Likely Outgoings

No-one. Everytime you watch the Swans in action, whether it be a player on the field or the bench, they are all full of good team spirit and Laudrup is unlikely to let anyone leave the club for that very reason.

If the former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder wants to sign someone, he quite simply can at Swansea. The club have developed a stable financial background with the summer sales of Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen helping that.

Looking to Spain, Swansea may well be tempted to make a move for a Barcelona player. Isaac Cuenca would be a good signing and add extra firepower, whilst some of second division players have also caught the eye of Laudrup.

Real Madrid's Jese Rodriguez would be a brilliant signing.
