Arsenal announced a landmark day in terms of new contracts on Wednesday as they formalised deals with a quintet of young British talent. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere are the five players in question who have agreed the new deals at The Emirates.
These five players are considered the future of Arsenal FC as Wenger has continually spoke of his desire to nurture a young and British side:
“We are still only focused on quality but for the first time England produces so much quality. It's not that I have changed. For me the quality is the most important thing. My dream was always to produce 60 per cent English and 40 per cent foreign young players.’’
That has also seen some of the lesser known young British players being rewarded with professional contracts in North London. The likes of Jack Jebb and Chuba Akpom spring to mind.
On the same day that the quintet of signings were announced Arsenal also tied down talented left-back Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill to a professional contract as revealed on his official Twitter account:
1st Pro contract signed :)— brandz-33 (@brandz33) December 19, 2012
An attacking minded full-back he is considered a hot prospect for the future and has also represented England at under-16 level. His main asset is considered to be his electric pace down the left flank and considering he only just turns 17 on Friday there is still plenty of room for improvement in a young player highly touted by followers of Arsenal’s youth team.
He has also received plenty of well wishes upon the declaration of his news on Twitter.
Congrats to @brandz33 on his first pro contract at the club! Well done mannn— Hector Bellerin (@HectorBellerin) December 19, 2012
Have you seen him play? Does he have what it takes to make it at Arsenal?
