News and gossip from The Emirates in the past 24 hours.

Arsenal have finally confirmed that a quintet of young British players have all agreed long-term deals with the club. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kieran Gibbs, Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Ramsey and perhaps most importantly Jack Wilshere have all signed new lucrative deals at The Emirates. In recent months there has been speculation that this deal was around the corner and the combined announcement is seen as a show of faith in the British talent at The Emirates. They are now hoping to add Theo Walcott to the list in the New Year.

Arsenal’s game with West Ham United has officially been called off. The Gunners are said to have been concerned over the safety of potentially 65,000 people getting to the ground and surrounding areas ahead of the tie on Boxing Day as Tube drivers consider industrial action over pay that day. The game will be played on either Wednesday 23rd or Saturday 26th January.

Arsenal are looking forward to the draw for the Champions League last 16 tomorrow. Fans will be hoping they are not made to pay for finishing second to Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 as there are several difficult ties that could befall The Gunners. The worst possible draw will likely be against Barcelona while they could also face Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, Malaga, PSG or Bayern Munich.

The Daily Mail believes that Klaas Jan Huntelaar will demand to be Arsenal’s best-paid player in order to convince him of a move to The Emirates. The Dutch striker seems ready to move on from German side Schalke 04 and after already having stints in Spain and Italy he is apparently keen on a move to the UK. However Arsenal may have to stump up £100k-a-week to get their man.

Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song could leave Barcelona as soon as next summer, according to reports in Spain. He has made just six La Liga starts and PSG have approached the Spaniards about a potential deal in 2013.

Former Arsenal defender Sol Campbell has told BBC Sport that Arsenal would be ‘crazy’ to let Theo Walcott leave the club. He feels keeping the England international is a key factor in their future success and that they need to buy players in the January window.
