Here are five reasons why he should move to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson
Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the major reasons why Sterling should consider joining Manchester United from Liverpool. Ferguson has shown throughout his career that he can take gifted players and turn them into superstars for both club and country with Cristiano Ronaldo being the most obvious example. Sterling would benefit tremendously from his 26 years of experience at the club.
Nani is on his way out of Old Trafford in January or the summer according to a number of different reports. This would leave a wide spot open in the United team so Sterling knows he has a good chance of regularly playing in the United team in a similar way to his numerous performances for Liverpool this season. If Nani does leave then he has a great chance of going straight into the first team.
There is a good argument to suggest that he would get a greater amount of protection both on and off the field. Wayne Rooney was protected from the media when he joined United at a similar age so all Sterling will have to concentrate on is his football. United certainly would not have allowed reports over contract disputes to emerge in the media had Sterling been negotiating a new deal at Old Trafford.
United have a far superior squad of players than Liverpool which would drastically improve Sterling’s all round game. He would benefit from training and playing with a higher standard of players. These players would also offer him protection and take some of the pressure away from him which is already at massive levels at Anfield.
Another good reason for him to join United is silverware. He’s much more likely to win trophies at Old Trafford than at Anfield. Liverpool have a long and prestigious history in terms of European and domestic football but the game has moved on and Old Trafford is one of the only places where he would be guaranteed a high ratio of silverware due to the consistency of the club.
