News, views, and gossip relating to Tottenham Hotspur over the last 24 hours.
Gareth Bale has been ruled out of tomorrow's Europa League clash with Panathaniakos at White Hart Lane, from which Tottenham need just a draw to qualify. They can even top the group if Lazio lose to Maribor.
Clint Dempsey could start in his place with Andre Villas-Boas commenting he was impressed with his performance on the left on Saturday after Bale got injured, adding the American played 'extremely well.'
Emmanuel Adebayor is also available, and with his Premier League suspension over too, the striker is likely to get a run out ahead of the weekend clash with Everton, although it is likely it will be from the bench.
Moussa Dembele is expected to be rested in midfield with Tom Huddlestone taking his place.
Despite coming through a reserve fixture on Monday, the match will be too early for Scott Parker. The midfielder will not be ready for the Everton game either, but AVB has said the midfielder along with Benoit Assou-Ekotto could feature the following weekend against Swansea.
AVB has also refuted persistent whispering linking Parker with a move to QPR, praising the midfielder. He said:
“At this moment, it is not even a consideration. It is very unfair that you put a player who was voted best player at Tottenham last year into the transfer market just like that.
“He’s an amazing player, it’s such a good boost for us he is back. He’s someone who can give us major help.”
HITC's Nick Harris takes a look at how Parker's return will affect Tottenham, and the freedom it could allow Dembele to play a more attacking role in midfield.
Sebastien Bassong says he has no regrets about quitting White Hart Lane to move to Norwich. The centre-back soon fell out of favour at Spurs after signing from Newcastle and he says playing regularly at Carrow Road is bringing the best out of him.
Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel is again being linked with a move back to Blackburn Rovers in January, but not everybody at Ewood Park is happy about that. Former Spurs 'keeper Paul Robinson is their current first choice, and he says he will look for a move if his club re-sign the American. His agent said if Friedel comes back - which he believes is very possible, Robinson will be 'on his way.'
Ashley Mills, the Spurs fan stabbed in Rome, has arrived back in the UK and says he is not giving up following Tottenham home and away. He told the Standard: "I still love football and I am still going to go to as many games as I can.”
