Manchester United fans react to German reports that Lewandowski is a done deal

Lewandowski Dortmund

According to Sky Deutschland Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Robert Lewandowski in the summer of 2013 for a deal believed to be worth around £12million. It has sparked quite a reaction on Twitter...

Reports in Germany have claimed that Manchester United have added another striker to their ranks. Sky Sports Germany report that a 15 million euros deal has been agreed between the two clubs and the Poland international will sign for the Manchester club in the summer.

Given the apparent reputability of the source it may seem harder to disbelieve that for a second summer in a row United may be prying away one of the star talents away from the German champions who have been in incredible form in the Champions League this season.

It does however bring up one very key problem - who leaves United?

Lewandowski would become United’s fifth striker along with Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. Considering the good form of Hernandez and the virtuosity of the former pair it leaves Welbeck as the obvious candidate to be packing his bags and looking for pastures new.

Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly a big fan of the young England international however and seems settled on his current front four. In fact the current wealth of talent in his striking options acts as significant counter claim to these rumours and so far there is nothing official from either club.

The truth remains that United have been keeping a close eye on the bullish striker, who has scored 14 goals in 20 appearances this season, and who at 24 represents a great investment. Perhaps with Van Persie approaching 30 he sees Lewandowski as his eventual replacement and is moving now to snap him up before anybody else has the same idea.

It has caused quite a stir on Twitter as United fans ponder the truth in the story and consider who Fergie may send packing if the marksman does indeed sign for the club.

What do you think? Truth in the rumour?
