The R's midfield is one area where they have several excellent players fighting for places, and working out the best combination of them for this fixture could set up a first win in the league this season.
Much of the consternation about QPR's current lowly league position is due to the fact that they are perceived to have so many good players. Whilst this is clearly true, there is a concentration of many of these players in the midfield has left them looking a little light of quality at the back and up front at times.
In the centre of midfield in particular, QPR have at least four players with a good claim to be starting matches and how Redknapp sets this area up going forward will be important to their chances of beating the drop.
The new QPR manager has traditionally been a fan of a 4-4-2 system, but the resources available to him at his new job mean that this shouldn't be the way to go.
With only Cisse available as an out and out striker at the moment, and the bulk of his best midfielders preferring to operate in the centre, I would suggest a 4-3-2-1 system would work best, with two of Taarabt, Mackie and Hoilett operating behind the striker and on the flanks ahead of the midfield trio.
This leaves three spots available in the midfield, and with Aston Villa coming to town, QPR have to get a combination in place that gives them the best chance of scoring.
To that end, Granero and Faurlin should be starting for me, with one of Diakite and Mbia behind them. The former pair are the class in the QPR side, but have more than enough grift to operate as two of a three man midfield.
With them making the play from deep, and the differing, more direct, talents of Hoilett, Mackie and Taarabt in front of them, QPR should have enough going forward to create plenty of chances.
QPR gained a creditable 0-0 draw at Sunderland, with Mbia and Diakite sitting behind the front four to protect the defence. This weekend they need to win, and should set their team up accordingly.
They may be slightly weakened at the back by bringing in Faurlin, but they will give themselves a better chance of getting goals and a vital three points with the Argentine in their ranks.
