Five players who could reunite with Harry Redknapp at QPR

Roman Pavlyuchenko on the Ball

Ex-Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham players from Stoke City, Lokomotiv Moscow, and Liverpool could all be working with Redknapp once again at Loftus Road.

Harry Redknapp has been linked with a loan-signing for his former Spurs stalwart Scott Parker when he returns from his Achilles injury. As unlikely as that deal seems there are other former Harry Redknapp players who seem much more likely to be on their way to Loftus Road?

Here are five…

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa man has become an outcast under Paul Lambert, and he could certainly fill a striking void at QPR. Bent is a proven goalscorer, and with Bobby Zamora injured QPR could certainly use him. However the question is whether Bent could let bygones be bygones and re-unite with Redknapp after their falling out at Spurs. Redknapp famously criticised him claiming 'his missus could have scored that' after Bent missed a simple header and the pair fell out. Still given his desperate situation at Villa he may be willing to put past differences aside.

Joe Cole

Redknapp gave Cole his senior debut in 1998 as West Ham manager and last year admitted he wanted to bring him to White Hart Lane:

"I like Joe, and I am not going to say I don't want to sign him because I would be lying,"

Now with struggling QPR you can bet that stance has not changed as Brendan Rodgers looks to trim his wage-bill at Anfield. Despite being off the boil since arriving on Merseyside the 31-year-old had a decent performance against Young Boys Bern in the Europa League and that may convince Harry that there is still some juice left in the tank from his one-time protégé.

Michael Dawson

This one is no secret as QPR were on the verge of signing the England international before Younes Kaboul went under the knife this summer. With the French international on the comeback trail Dawson’s already slim first-team opportunities are set to diminish even more before January and with a shaky defence at Loftus Road Redknapp may turn to a trusted source for solidity.

Roman Pavlyuchenko

Not another striker. QPR don’t need strikers. I beg to differ. While there are indeed many an option on offer at Loftus road with the likes of Cisse, Johnson, Mackie, Hoilett, Zamora, Campbell and Bothroyd all available from January Harry has an abundance of strikers to pick from; however as I was always told ‘quality over quantity’ and former Spurs striker Pavlyuchenko is certainly quality on his day. He is currently playing for Lokomotiv Moscow and would be available at a reasonable price however with Fabio Capello currently ignoring foreign based players a move abroad may make it even harder for him to get into the Russian fold. Redknapp is obviously a huge fan of the forward:

‘’Technically he's a fantastic player with two great feet and he can score. He is top drawer when he's at it.’’

Wilson Palacios

Since Redknapp flogged him to Stoke in August 2011 a lingering knee problem and poor form have left him watching from the side-lines more often than not. After a solid pre-season he still can’t force his way into Tony Pulis’s regular plans and the combative Honduran may just be what QPR need to add steel to what has been a flaky midfield.

Would you like to see any of Harry’s old boys at Loftus Road?
