Player ratings for the Manchester City team during the 0-0 draw away at Chelsea.
Here's out full run down.
Joe Hart – 6
Quiet because he only had one shot to save throughout the match. Distribution was fantastic as always and commands the defence well at set pieces.
Pablo Zabaleta – 7
Looks like a very solid right back. He didn’t get out positioned, he didn’t get out muscled and he added valuable extra width to the side going forward.
Vincent Kompany – 8
Dealt with the Chelsea attack very well. He easily brushed Fernando Torres off the ball whenever it was played over the top and he read the game well when Chelsea tried to play it through the middle.
Matija Nastasic – 6
One of his better performances in a City shirt from recent memory. He is very quick and used his pace to cope with the breaks from players in the Chelsea midfield. He looks to have gone back to basics with simple tackles and passing from the back.
Alexsandar Kolarov – 7
Same as Zabaleta, got forward well to support each attack and looks very solid defensively. Did not allow Chelsea players to switch onto their favoured side whenever he pressed out wide.
James Milner – 7
Milner looks like a completely different player when he’s wearing a City shirt instead of an England one. Looked very comfortable out wide, his delivery was good and he broke up the play well.
Gareth Barry – 6
Relatively anonymous in the City midfield but he did his job well when Chelsea tried to break. Simple passes to more creative players in the City attack meant the side was able to get the ball into Chelsea’s final third quicker.
David Silva – 7
A very busy, fast thinking and clever player. He was always on the move looking for possession and looking for a way to thread the ball in behind. His final ball was a little bit off at times but a solid all round performance.
Yaya Toure – 6
Quite disappointing for one of the more experienced and influential players in the City team. His presence could have been felt a lot more in the middle and he looked frustrated at times that he wasn’t seeing more of the ball.
Edin Dzeko – 6
Will be disappointed with his performance. Dzeko failed to get to grips with the way Chelsea dealt with him defensively. Was not able to utilise his height and strength which meant he was marked out of the game.
Sergio Aguero – 7
As above in the respect that he did not make the most of the talent he has. He was always moving and his pace made it difficult for Chelsea to mark him throughout but when he did find space, he wasn’t able to make the most of it.
Carlos Tevez – 5
Similar to Aguero in the respect that he looked busy when he came onto the field but he didn’t have any real impact. Made one or two piercing runs inside the box but never really threatened in emphatic style.
Mario Balotelli – N/A
Didn’t have the time to make an impact coming off of the bench.
