Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and West Ham have all been lined with these names in the past. Will anyone look beyond the likes of Holtby, Huntelaar and Lewandowski in the German market?
The names Robert Lewandowski, Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Lewis Holtby are now regular features of transfer columns in particular when it comes to potential moves to the Premier League.
But who else currently plying their trade in Germany could be on their way to England?
Simon Kjaer – Wolfsburg
A difficult talent is the best way to describe the Wolfsburg centre-back. He has all the qualities to be a world-class defender and coupled with his incredible passing attributes would be a key component to any of the world’s top teams. However he has consistently failed to live up to his potential after an outstanding two seasons at Italian side Palermo.
Wolfsburg and a loan spell at Roma have been thoroughly disappointing but at 23-years-old he is surely worth a gamble. At one time Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and AC Milan scrambled for his signature so he is more than worth a punt.
Jan Kirchhoff – Mainz
The 22-year-old is currently with FSV Mainz but his attractive performances have seen him linked with Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.
Considering his wide range of talents across the back line the German under-21 international will surely be linked with the Premier League sooner rather than later.
Donis Avdijaj – Schalke 04
Billed as the next ‘Gerd Muller’ Liverpool want to add the 16-year-old German starlet to compatriot Samed Yesil at Anfield. They face competition from Juventus and Inter Milan but will feel confident of beating them to his coveted signature if he opts against staying at Schalke.
Zdravko Kuzmanovic – VfB Stuttgart
The Serbian 25-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been a surprising omission from the first-team for the majority if this season. He was attributed with the quote "It's simple. Next year I'm out of here" so it is clear he wants to leave. Arsenal are being linked with the midfielder along with AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus.
Kevin Grosskreutz – Borussia Dortmund
Something of a forgotten article at German high-flyers Borussia Dortmund his talents are not as widely touted as those of team-mates Marco Reus, Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gotze or Jakub Blaszczykowski. The left-winger however is open to a move recently stating his intention on playing in the Premier League:
“The Premier League will be my first choice. I really like English football.”
Liverpool are monitoring the situation closely.
Would you like to see any of these players at your club in the near future?
