Five Premier League clubs under big pressure this weekend.

Queens Park Rangers

If QPR lose at home to Southampton then it could mean the end for current boss Mark Hughes. QPR have drawn three and lost two from their matches at home this season and Hughes has already said this week that he thinks he’ll be gone if the club don’t win. That would mean upheaval for the club as a new gaffer comes in, meaning they can wave goodbye to any ambition for the season with sole focus being on staying up.

Southampton have the worst away record of all the teams in the league having lost every single match they have played away from home. Their manager Nigel Adkins is under a similar amount of pressure because he could also be facing the exit signs if his club lose this match. Southampton have conceded 18 goals this season on the road so all areas of the team are under pressure to perform and give the fans something to shout about.

Liverpool are on this list for the simple fact they can’t seem to get a result at home this year. They have won only one match at Anfield this season, drawing three and losing two. They take on Wigan who have won two games away from home already including a recent victory at Spurs. This, plus the fact they won at Anfield last season, will make them extremely confident heading into the game. Another defeat for Liverpool could mean a few more million for Brendan Rodgers to spend in January.

Chelsea are under a bit of pressure because they are playing West Brom away, a team with the joint highest number of home wins with Manchester City. Chelsea have seen their Premier League lead slide and they are now behind Manchester United and City in the title race which means they simply need to win to keep any pressure on their title rivals. Chelsea will want to still be in contention by January when they can make improvements to their squad and possibly bring in another striker.

Arsenal are on the list of the five clubs under most pressure because if they lose, they will slip further adrift from the European places. A defeat against Spurs would put them four points behind their local rivals and would also increase the gap from the teams fighting for the title at the top of the league. It could also mean that the club slips down the table closer to the bottom half which would infuriate Arsenal fans.
