Chelsea latest: Including Feruz brace and call for Falcao

David Luiz

A round-up of news and views relating to Chelsea over the past 24 hours.

David Luiz has said he hopes Chelsea will make a move to sign Falcao, after playing for Brazil against the Colombian striker in their 1-1 draw. The defender said that it’s good when the club is linked to great players, and that the addition of Falcao would be a great choice. Falcao himself has once again insisted he is not thinking about a transfer at the moment, but that he does have ambitions to play in a new league someday.

Marouane Fellaini is another reported Chelsea target who has said he is willing to be patient about a move to a bigger club, remarking today:

“There is interest in me. But Everton are an ambitious club as well,"

"I don't think they'll let their best players go just like that. I want to play for one of the biggest clubs one day. But I am patient."

Petr Cech has spoken today about the allegations against Mark Clattenburg, saying he hopes that the matter can be drawn to a close soon. Whatever the result of the investigation is, Cech hopes it will lead to better communication between referees, players and the public.

Roberto Di Matteo will return to his former club this weekend, and ahead of the match Chelsea’s opponents have confirmed they will be without keeper Ben Foster, with Boaz Myhill ready to step in as Foster’s deputy again. Youssouf Mulumbu is confident of being fit for the clash with the Blues despite picking up a knock whilst on international duty for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

One player who enjoyed his international duty a bit more was Chelsea youngster Islam Feruz, who bagged a brace even as Scotland U21s lost in Portugal. Feruz has also impressed in recent matches for Chelsea’s youth team in the Next Gen tournament.

Reported Chelsea target Stephen Lichtsteiner is happy at Juventus according to his agent and brother Marko Lichtsteiner. The right back had been linked with Chelsea, especially after being left out by Juventus recently, but currently has no plans to move.

In a further twist in the Willian tale, two Italian clubs have reportedly joined Chelsea and Tottenham in the hunt for his signature. Inter and Juventus are both interested in the Shakhtar playmaker, though they will also have to fork out the £28.1 million buy-out Shakhtar manager Lucescu has demanded.
