Rumours concerning Nani's future at Manchester United rumble on; in January his contract will have just 18 months left to run and with talk of a fallout between the winger and boss Sir Alex Ferguson, it is looking more and more likely the club may cash in.
Several names have been suggested as potential alternative replacements. Porto's James Rodriguez, Blackpool's Thomas Ince, and even Arsenal's Theo Walcott.
But what about a Brazilian attacker who has lit up the Champions League in Europe this season and has openly said he is desperate for a move to the Premier League?
We are talking of course about Willian, the 24-year-old Brazilian playing for Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk.
Chelsea were first linked with the player last January, and are thought to remain interested, while Andre Villas-Boas, now at Tottenham, is thought to want to bring him to White Hart Lane.
If United are looking for a wide attacking midfielder to spend money on with any money brought in from the Nani sale, then Willian should be high on their list.
Now Willian is predominantly a left-sided player, and Nani right, but with Antonio Valencia a clear first choice on the right midfield, the Brazilian could stake a claim to be a number one choice on the left.
Ashley Young is hot and cold, and suffers with injuries, and so strengthening the position would be logical, although young Irishman Robbie Brady would perhaps not be too thrilled to see another obstacle placed between him and the first team.
Nevertheless Willian is an excellent player that would surely excel at Old Trafford. In 14 games this season for his side he has created 10 assists, and scored two goals.
An excellent record which shows he contributes a goal to his team in nearly every match. Last season he provided a superb 17 assists and scored 6 goals, and the year before that 12 assists and 8 goals.
His consistent excellence is a real asset to his side; and if this is how he plays when he is not happy, then imagine what he could do if he was?
The Brazilian has spoken of his desire to quit the Ukraine and move to England on several occasions, and lambasted his club for blocking previous bids. Shakhtar are thought to be holding out for £20 million; but if United sell Nani for more than that, then spending such a fee on the winger will not be so contentious.
If United don't go in for him, then they might just be facing him on a regular occasion sooner or later, with Spurs and Chelsea likely to renew their interest in January, and there will be a chance for watching scouts to take a look at him close hand next week when his side visit Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
Now United may need a central midfielder more than they do a winger, but if Nani is sold, then another wide man should be bought, and Willian should certainly be under consideration.
Watch him in action below...
Would Willian be a good signing for United? Who should they buy if they sell Nani?
