‘Escape to victory’ - Italian League Review

Italian Serie A already has a queen: Juventus. The ‘Bianconeri’ won against Napoli last Saturday and now have twenty-two points in the division, two more than their nearest rivals, the Neapolitans.

It was a beautiful match-up between ‘Vecchia signora’ and ‘Napoli’, the game being decided by Caceres and Pogba. The ex-Manchester United midfilder is becoming the superstar that everyone thought he might be. He arrived in Turin with the status of ‘The new Viera’, a player idolised by the Juventus fans, and he scored with a shot from outside the penalty box. Juventus' victory ends a week full of polemics between these two teams. Now, the turineses will turn their attention to the Champions League and their match against the Danish champions, Nordsjelland.

In the Champions League, Juventus, the team trained by Antonio Conte have the same points their main rivals,  Chelsea. These two teams are having a great tournament and they are both on the top of their championships. It is important for the Bianconeri to find their first victory in the European competion after two draws against Blues and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Good news also for Lazio, opponent of Tottenham in Europa League. The ‘Biancocelesti’ won against Milan on Saturday, climbed to third position in the championship and showed all the other clubs that they are ready to compete for the championship. The 3-2 win over ‘The devil’ (Hernanes, Candreva and Klose scored) was proof of Milan’s problems, still disoriented from the departures of Ibra, Thiago Silva, Cassano, Nesta and the other ‘senators’. It was an extraordinary moment for Lazio and for their president Claudio Lotito. The team trained by Petkovic also want to do their best in Europe, AVB should be alerted.

Inter is also a team fighting for the ‘Scudetto’. Cassano and co. won against Catania and gained fourth position. The team formally trained by Mourinho have found the right balance after a bad start and now they are in pole position to compete for the league title.

There was also a great result for Roma, who won against Genoa (4-2), thanks to the spectacular free-kick by Zeman.

Udinese, opponent of Liverpool in the Europa League, won against Pescara after a lucky goal scored by Maicosuel.

In Italy all the teams are behind Juventus. The ‘Bianconeri’ are still undefeated but now have to overcome the last obstacle: a win in the Champions League.
