Video: Chelsea's Kevin de Bruyne scores against Serbia

Chelsea winger Kevin de Bruyne, on loan at Werder Bremen, scored a goal which helped Belgium claim an important victory last night.

Chelsea fans haven't seen much of Kevin de Bruyne so far, despite him signing in January.

He was loaned back to Genk, and after brief showings in pre-season, he was loaned out to Werder Bremen where he has been impressing in the Bundlesliga, being deployed in a number of positions including as a striker.

Last night it was he, rather than £32 million star Eden Hazard who landed a crucial blow against Serbia in their World Cup Qualifier.

Aston Villa's Christian Benteke had already put the away side 1-0 up, before De Bruyne broke away in the second half, leaving a defence which included Branislav Ivanovic trailing in his wake.

It was a crucial goal which effectively won the game, before Everton's Kevin Mirallas added a third in injury time to add polish to the scoreline.

Hopefully it is a good sign that Belgium's team of stars are going to fulfil their potential, the win achieved without the injured Marouane Fellaini.
