After the seniors dispatched of the Greek side Arsenal's young pretenders are now dealt the same challenge as they welcome Olympiakos to Underhill. Manchester City are also in action against Fenerbahce while Ajax will look to impress again with a return tie against Molde.
Arsenal are hoping to avenge their defeat at the hands of Olympiakos in today’s NextGen action as they welcome the Greek side to Barnet’s Underhill Stadium just a day after their senior side also welcomed the Greek giants to London.
They will be hoping for a similar result as the 3-1 victory that The Gunners dealt out last night courtesy of goals from Gervinho, Podolski and Ramsey.
The last time the two faced each other was in Greece as Arsenal’s youngsters struggled with the stressors of playing away from home in Europe in a disappointing 2-0 defeat, but it should not detract from the fact Olympiakos have a talented team.
Arsenal dealt out a crushing performance in their first home game of this seasons competition and if they can do the same, they may be following Arsene Wenger’s blueprint for success in the senior European competition.
Kristoffer Olsson, the promising Swedish mdfielder made his excitement known after defeat to West Brom in the under-21 league earlier in the week…
kristoffer olsson @krisolsson Lost 1-0, should have won the 2 half. Came on for jack and played the last 30 mins, felt good! On to the next one, olympiakos on thursday!
Arsenal will hope to continue their good home form with victory over their Greek opponents.
Arsenal are not the only English side in action with Manchester City also in action.
Manchester City are first up and after finally gathering their first ever NextGen points, they face the side they conquered for those inaugural figures once again this evening, as they have travelled to Turkey to take on Fenerbahce.
A few of the Manchester City boys are obviously looking forward to a taste of hostile European action, or just enjoying the weather…
Ajax are also in action against Molde of Norway and judging by their opening fixture; a 5-0 thrashing of the Norwegian outfit, Ajax and star-player Viktor Fischer are definitely up for the occasion.
What do you make of today’s NextGen action?
