Spurs Fans - 'We're Not Booing Any More!'

Here's a post sent in by a Tottenham Hotspur fan.

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has been under attack from day one by the media, and in a particularly nasty and malicious way. I could names names, but there's no point. We all know who they are.

I can accept and agree that predeccessor Harry Redknapp losing his job was very harsh, and Harry, of course, was a media darling. But it wasn't AVB who sacked Harry, and the man deserves to be given a chance.

Us Spurs fans also need to stick together and show support - even after the Reading match, the team were booed off at half-time against QPR. And ironically when Defoe put us ahead against QPR, our fans started chanting: 'You're not singing any more', when 'We're not booing anymore' would have surely been more appropriate.

AVBs tactics are definitely better suited for us playing away from home, though - all goals scored at the Lane this season have been when we've changed our formation and switched to 4-4-2.  Also, AVB gets all 11 men to defend corners and, unless the ball is brought under control and played from the back, we have little chance for a breakaway; he is surely better off having say Defoe and Lennon lurking just inside our half. At the very least it will mean teams will also have to leave players back and make it easier to clear the danger.

In my view, this season is going to be more competitive than ever - I suspect Everton and Newcastle will remain forces to be reckoned with, Chelsea are definitely stronger, and then the it's the usual suspects - City, Utd and Arsenal - who will  all be scrapping for top 4 places.

We are slightly weaker without Modric, but Vertonghen is absolutely the buy of the transfer window. And having Dempsey allows Defoe to play, and Dembele looks like a perfect midfield partner for Sandro.

So, with a lot of luck, and if we stick together - fans, players and the management - we just might be in the mix and in with a chance at a Champions league slot. I, for one, am confident Tottenham will do well under AVB.
