Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is likely to use the League Cup fixture with Coventry City tonight as a chance to experiment with young talent as he has done with great success in the past with names such as Gael Clichy and Cesc Fabregas.
Nico Yennaris, Thomas Eisfeld, Hector Bellerin, Martin Angha, Ignasi Miquel, James Shea and Serge Gnabry could all potentially be given the nod for the fixture after all playing well during pre-season for the Gunners. Damian Martinez could get a chance in goal while fringe players such as Andrey Arshavin, Johan Djourou and Maraoune Chamakh are also reportedly in the frame to start the fixture.
Emmanuel Frimpong is also expected to make his comeback after seven months on the sidelines with a serious knee injury and Wenger admitted the Ghanaian combative midfielder ‘has never been as fit as he is now’.
Andrey Arshavin is one player who will feature as Arsene Wenger admits he feels bad about not being able to select the Russian more regularly as he has been a fully committed member of the squad and acted as a complete professional despite not playing on a regular basis. The Russian is currently out of Wenger’s first team plans but failed to win a move to another English club as he desired during the summer.

Aron Johannson, the Icelandic goal machine at AGF Aarhus in Denmark, was reportedly a transfer target for Arsenal after an impressive start to the Danish season, including 10 goals in as many games and a four-minute hat-trick in a game last month. However the 21-year-olds agent has poured cold water on such speculation, admitting that such interest was flattering but he would happily remain in Denmark next season to continue his development.
Jack Wilshere will step up his progress from his series of injuries when he plays his first competitive football in 14 months on Monday. The 20-year-old is expected to feature in Arsenal’s Under-21 matchup with West Brom.
