Stoke City make offer to sign German under-20 international striker

Stoke City have made an offer to sign free agent Abu Bakarr Kargbo, who has impressed on trial.

Stoke City have made an offer to sign German youth international Abu-Bakarr Kargbo.

The club and player are yet to agree personal terms, and he has featured in pre-season for the Potteries club.

Max Meltzer, agent, told HITC Sport: “Yes, I can confirm Stoke have made an offer for Bakarr, but there's quite some disparity between the club and player on personal terms at the moment. It must be resolved soon”.

The striker is now back in Germany awaiting to see if personal terms can be agreed but Stoke could lose him as there is another offer on table for first team football in the 2nd Bundesliga and there is still interest from clubs including Celtic.

Kargbo was born in Sierra Leone but moved to Germany aged seven.

He played last season for Hertha Berlin's youth side, and is hoping to earn a move to the Premier League.

He rejected a new contract at Berlin after they were relegated from the Bundesliga and Tony Pulis has used that opportunity to bring him over and take a look at him close hand.

He had a trial at West Brom earlier this summer, but it was at Stoke where he really impressed, netting in pre-season matches, and scored against the Manchester United under-21 side, before it was harshly ruled out for offside.
