OK, a first trophy for 6 years, but the future looks anything but bright for Liverpool.
Despite all the hype, let's face it - Liverpool struggled against a second-rate team to win a third-rate cup competition.
And manager Kenny Dalglish's most-recent signings, apart from Stewart Downing, performed poorly. Henderson was awful, Carroll and Enrique little better, and Suarez and Adam (that penalty!) struggled to show their class. Hell, even talisman Stevie G failed to score from the spot!
So, of the £107.5m of Dalglish's signings on display, £87.5m's worth hardly showed up at all.
And to top it all, where it really matters, both Arsenal and Chelsea won at the weekend - leaving Liverpool in 7th place in the Premier League, and 7 points off a Champions League slot (albeit with a game in hand).
Sure, every long journey begins with one small step (and success in the FA Cup is still a possibility), but Liverpool fans shouldn't get carried away with what occurred Sunday - it was hardly inspirational stuff.
Having said that, Arsenal supporters would probably swap places in a heartbeat.
