Report - Huddersfield Chairman Claims Lee Clark Mightn't Have Been Able To Take The Pressure

Stress Test

Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle has been busy talking to Radio Leeds, and made some pretty amazing statements about former manager Lee Clark.

According to the BBC website, Hoyle acknowledges that 'Lee brought some incredibly talented and gifted players in - we've got an incredible squad now and I don't doubt that they can achieve promotion'. But Terriers Chairman added: 'I had lost faith in his ability to get the club into the top two. I had also lost the faith that in a play-off final he could do it. The pressure would maybe have been too much for him'.

Clark, who was sacked last week, had one of the best recent track records in European football, and Hoyle has replaced him with Simon Grayson, who was sacked lasted week by Leeds for falling off a play-off place.

Pressure ? There's always pressure in football. But it appears that Hoyle himself may have been the man feeling the pressure, and he'll be feeling a whole lot more if his knee-jerk sacking of Clark doesn't pay-off with automatic promotion to the Championship at the end of this season.
