Mizuho International Names New NED And COO

Mizuho International has announced the appointment of Thierry Sciard as Non-Executive Director and Iain Greer as Chief Operating Officer

Sciard was appointed on 14th October 2011 as Non-Executive Director.  He will also chair the newly created Risk Overview Committee and will be a member of the Remuneration Committee.  He started his banking career at Bank of America and now has over 30 years of combined investment banking, markets and investment management experience. He is also currently a Managing Principal at Storm Harbour Partners and, prior to this, was most recently Managing Director and Global Head of Fortis Investments’ Alternatives and Solutions Division.

Sciard has held senior roles at some of the world’s largest global investment banks, including Lehman Brothers Europe in London as Head of its Investment Management Division for Europe and the Middle East, Calyon as Global Head of Capital Markets, Credit Agricole Indosuez as Global Head of Fixed Income and Citigroup. 

Greer was appointed as Chief Operating Officer on 10th October 2011. He brings with him an extensive range of experience, with his career spanning over 25 years in the City in both investment banking and investment management.  Iain began his career in management consulting with Touche Ross and has held global leadership roles at some of the world’s pre-eminent financial service houses, including Credit Suisse, BGI and most recently Fidelity International.

Greer takes on the role of COO from Oscar Strugstad, who will leave the organisation on the 31st December 2011.
