Lemonade and Vodka - Summertime Perfection

Coasters By Diy Weddingbee Com

The bank holiday may be over, but summer is still here until the autumnal equinox on 23rd September. So we're going to make the most of it with a cocktail in our hand, and recommend you do the same.

We went to two weddings this summer. Both were in Montana. And both kicked off cocktail hour with the most delicious lemonade cocktails in Mason jars. (Clearly this is a Montana thing.)

The first one was called the Josty. (I'll let you figure out what the bride and groom were named).

Here's how you make it:

Slice cucumbers and muddle them at the bottom of a glass
Add ice
Add a good swig of vodka
Top with San Pellegrino Limonata soda
Garnish with a cucumber slice

At the second wedding, it was a pink lemonade variation:

Add ice to a glass
Add vodka
Add pink lemonade
Serve with a straw

Clearly the secret to this simple sweetie was in the pink lemonade. It was none of this store-bought stuff. It was the real thing, made with lemons, sugar, more sugar, and a bit of cranberry juice for colour and kick. (And you thought the kick was coming from the vodka.) Martha Stewart's recipe is the perfect place to start.

So go down to the nearest supermarket, buy yourself a few canning jars, and mix up a pitcher. Toast the days of summer while they're still here!
