On the 22nd of February, Guildhall will rock like never before.
In its 600-year history, Guildhall has never seen a rock concert. But when City Rocks comes to town, that will all change.
The event benefits Coram, the first children's charity (ever, founded in 1739), and RedR, the disaster relief charity. It will include a VIP reception and an after-party (naturally). It will also include a money-can't-buy auction, which will include a spinel * necklace from Angelina Jolie. (What's more exciting, that the carat content of the spinel is 74.35 or the fact it includes a written note from her?)
Oh, and the concert! Bryan Adams, so you'll pretty much be singing along with the entire set list **.
So, you want to go? Tickets are £600 each, and limited to 700. If you'd like to go, email firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the City Rocks Box Office: 020 7520 0324.
We forgot to mention that the event will be held on the eve of Handel's birth *** - Handel being one of the first governors of Coram. So at least Guildhall will find some comfort in that!
* Not sure what spinel is? From Wikipedia:
Spinel is the magnesium aluminium member of the larger spinel group of minerals. It has the formula MgAl2O4. Balas ruby is an old name for a rose-tinted variety.
And just so you know, two of the British Crown Jewels are spinel.
** Do you doubt us? With Somebody, It's Only Love, Heat of the Night, Hearts on Fire, (Everything I Do) I Do For You, Heaven, and our favourite, Run to You, it's true.
*** In case you've forgotten, George Frederic Handel was born in Germany in 1685, and became a British subject before dying in London in 1759 and being buried at Westminster Abbey. So you can go and visit him whilst listening to the Messiah on your iPod!
