Nomura Appoints Vice Chairman, Public Policy, EMEA

Nomura Logo - Nomura has announced the appointment of Sir Andrew Cahn as Vice Chairman, Public Policy EMEA, effective from April.

The appointment recognises the increasing importance to Nomura of staying abreast of the rapidly changing legislative and regulatory landscape. Sir Andrew will work closely with David Benson, in his newly created role as Vice Chairman, Risk and Regulatory Affairs.

Sir Andrew has held a number of senior positions throughout his career across both commercial and economic portfolios. Sir Andrew is currently Chief Executive of UK Trade & Investment, a role to which he was appointed in 2006. He will be stepping down at the end of the year and observing a three-month waiting period as recommended by the Prime Minister's Advisory Committee on Business Appointments.

Prior to his current role, he worked for British Airways where he was Director of Government and Industry Affairs from 2000 to 2006. Sir Andrew was Chef de Cabinet to the Vice President of the European Commission, Neil Kinnock, and a member of the Cabinet of Lord Cockfield, the creator of the European Single Market. Sir Andrew has also twice worked in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the UK Permanent Representation to the European Union, and spent most of the 1990s in the Cabinet Office.

Tarun Jotwani, Chief Executive Officer, EMEA said: "I am delighted to welcome Andrew to Nomura in this newly created role. Andrew's wealth of experience, industry knowledge and strong relationships will be hugely valuable as we actively expand our operations globally and look to strengthen our advocacy and legislative efforts. His appointment strengthens our existing leadership team and will reinforce our presence in EMEA".
