Movers & Shakers (Who's On The Move) - Monday 17th May

Here's the latest on the mover's & shakers front.

Bank of America

Bank of America Merrill Lynch has announced the expansion of its clean technology investment banking team, with the addition of Jon Krahulik as Managing Director and Global Head of Clean Technology investment banking, and Riaz Ladhabhoy, who comes aboard as a Director in the unit.

Both bankers join from Deutsche Securities, and will be based in the firm's Palo Alto, California office.

Barclays Capital

Barclays Capital has announced the appointment of Tetsufumi Yamakawa as Managing Director and co-Head of Japan Research. Based in Tokyo, Yamakawa will join in June from Goldman Sachs, where he was more recently co-head of Pan Asia Economics Research.


CIBC's wholesale banking unit has hired Michael Stewart from Jefferies & Co to lead a new Toronto-based restructuring advisory business for the Canadian bank.

Credit Suisse

Credit Suisse has hired Tom Wilson, previously at JPMorgan, as a Director in its Melbourne-based Australian equity sales team.

Deutsche Bank

Deutsche Bank has hired Lorgan O'Shea from Bank of America Merrill Lynch. O'Shea will join Deutsche in August to head up the bank's equity capital markets business in the UK & Ireland.

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments has announced the establishment of separate Asset Management and Distribution organizations, promoting Abigail Johnson to head all distribution channels and hiring BNY Mellon Asset Management President and Chief Executive Officer Ronald P. O'Hanley to lead Asset Management and Corporate Services.  Both will report directly to Edward C. Johnson 3d, Fidelity chairman and chief executive officer.


Gary Clarke, the head of Schroder's European equities, has left the firm to join JPMorgan Asset Management, where he will become Co-Head of Global Thematic & Retail Portfolios with Peter Kirkman.

Jefferies & Co

Jefferies & Co has announced the appointment of Paul Viviano as Head of US Event Driven Sales within the firm's broader Equities Group. Viviano joins from Morgan Stanley, and will be based in New York.

The firm has also confirmed the hiring of Ashley Delp as Managing Director and Head of US Equity Syndicate and David Bohn as Managing Director and Head of Private Placements. Ms Delp joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Bohn was more recently at Cowen & Co, where he was Managing Director and Co-Head of Private Placements. Both will be based in New York.

Macquarie Group

Macquarie has hired Todd Steinberg, BNP Paribas's former Head of Equity and Commodity Derivatives for the Americas. Steinberg will join as Head of Equity Derivatives, and will be based in New York.

Matrix Group

Matrix Group has appointed Tiraneh Tehranchian as Head of Risk. Ms Tehranchian joins from Man Investments, where she undertook a similar role for the last 5 years.

Moelis & Company

Moelis & Company has announced that John Joliet and Brian Webber have joined the firm as Managing Directors based in Los Angeles. They will expand the firm's coverage of the technology sector with a particular focus on business and technology services and software companies. Both join from UBS Investment Bank.


Nomura Securities has announced Simon Western has joined as a Managing Director in Investment Banking. Western will be based in New York, where he will work in the Financial Institutions Group. He joins Nomura from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he worked in the Financial Institutions Group and focused on asset management companies.

UBS Investment Bank

UBS has hired Deutsche Bank's Thomas Frauenlob as its new head of equities in Switzerland. He will also be a member of the firm's Investment Banking Management Committee.
