Have you ever paid attention to the Ayr United result ?
No, well perhaps you ought to...
If you don't get to a game on a Saturday afternoon as often as you'd like, doubtless you sit in front of the telly and watch the results role in. Of course, there are all manner of programs which show the results, but it's hard to beat Jeff Stelling's Soccer Saturday crew. But I always used to wonder why they bothered to display the results from the lower leagues, but I recently worked it out - it's for the gambling element in the football fraternity to check whether they've made some easy money!
Soccer Saturday is an excellent programme in itself, but it's even more exciting if you're waiting for the results to come in to check off against your accumulator! Accumulators are a long shot, of course, because you're relying on the outcomes of seven or eight games of football going your way. But, believe me, when a goal goes in for one of your teams, and you edge closer to that little pot of gold, you daren't leave the room even to go to the loo!
I've had two accumulators come in this season already, and I'm up on the bookies. So, I thought I'd detail my picks of the weekend:
Aston Villa to beat Brighton
Bury to beat Hereford
Carlisle to beat Stockport
Crewe to beat Darlington
Rotherham to beat Grimsby
East Stirling to beat Montrose
Hibernian to beat Hamilton
Ross County to bear Ayr United
8 games, 7 home wins, 1 away win, and you now actually care about what is happening on the vidiprinter!
