When you think of a male boss 'hitting' on a female member of staff, you usually think of something sexual (or at least the boss hopes that's where it will lead!). Well, this story is about an alleged 'hit' of an altogether different kind.
29-year-old hedge fund marketing executive Jordan Wimmer left hedge fund Normos Capital earlier this year, claiming that she couldn't cope any more with the sexual comments, the visits to adult entertainment clubs, the fact that hookers were allegedly taken to client meetings, and the general humiliation which she says came with working for her boss, Mark Lowe.
Ms Wimmer ended up undergoing psychiatric treatment, and is now suing her ex-boss for some $6.6m, claiming discrimination and constructive dismissal (she is said to have been earning around $830,000-a-year). Nothing strange so far, then - just your every day tale of fun and games in the hedge fund industry. But it gets even more bizarre.
At a London Employment Tribunal hearing this week, Ms Wimmer said that, in May this year, a man who looked just like her boss was sitting in the front seat of a car that tried to run her down (coming at her 6 times). The former hedge fund marketing executive also said that her boss 'knew lots of Russians', and that she was convinced he had hired a Russian 'hit man' to kill her.
Lawyers acting for Mr Lowe accused Ms Wimmer of being a fantasist, but she says that she remains frightened of her former boss, and still slept with a chair lodged against her door each night in fear that someone might break in and do her harm.
The case continues.
