This was a lot of hype during the summer over the fact that Prince William, second-in-line to the throne over here, was going to undertake a period of work experience in the City. Although he was rumoured to have been spotted all over town, in the end he landed at HSBC. Yes, that's HSBC. And he worked with the bank's Charities Investment Services Team. Oh, and that unit is based in the West End, a little more than a stone's throw away from Clarence House, where the Prince lives. How convenient for him. And he spent a whole three weeks there, learning how the City works. The nation will be able to rest easier in their beds now, knowing that William is up to speed with what goes on in the global financial markets.
And during three fun-packed weeks, William is said to have given The Bank of England and The London Stock Exchange the once over. Not to forget that other well-known and much-respected City financial institution, Billingsgate fish market. Yes, he apparently also found time for a visit there, too.
The Prince is soon thought likely to go off to Sandhurst, to train as an army officer. Any ideas how he'll spend his two week stint there ? Perhaps he'll visit the London Eye, or even London Zoo. And who says that our Royal Family have an easy time of it ? Glad to see that our future King has got on top of things and is really finding out how his would-be loyal subjects live their lives.
