The Daily Telegraph reports that the wife of a senior Merrill Lynch investment banker has been arrested for his murder. 40 year-old Robert Kissel was found dead in Hong Kong on Thursday.
Sadly, Kissel, who is said to have been dead for three or four days, was found by police 'wrapped in a carpet and plastic sheets' in an underground storeroom in the luxury appartment block he lived in with his wife.
Kissel's wife is said to have gone to the local police on Thursday, claiming that her husband had assaulted her a few days earlier. She was subsequently taken to hospital, but soon left without explanation. Kissel was later believed to have been reported missing by a work colleague and, when police arrived to question Mrs Kissel, she is said to have given them a key to the underground unit, where they found the body.
The former banker is said to have died of head injuries. Police have confirmed that Mrs Kissel had been arrested for his murder. Merrill Lynch is currently working with investigators, but understandably has not commented on the matter.
Kissel had worked for Merrill in Hong Kong for the last three years and was a managing director, head of the firm's principal finance team in Asia.
The couple are said to have three children. The case against Mrs Kissel has been adjourned while she remains in hospital.
