The Daily Telegraph reports that deceased billionaire banker Edmond Safra now stands accused of being responsible for the death of a nurse who died in a fire with him in his luxury apartment in Monaco in 1999. The nurse's children are now claiming £64m compensation from Safra's estate.
Safra's nurse Vivian Torrente died in the fire which also killed the banker and his children have now filed suit in a Manhatten court for compensation. In a new twist to the saga, which last week saw the Safra nurse jailed for 10 years for starting the blaze which killed the pair, the scion of the deceased nurse claim that the evidence suggests that Safra prevented their mother from leaving the apartment complex wherein she died.
Mrs Torrente's children claim that they were 'fraudulently deceived and misled' into signing the settlement for damages following their mother's death and have also named three insurance companies in the lawsuit.
