Tottenham have sold Andros Townsend to Newcastle United.
Redknapp said: "Andros Townsend joining Newcastle might leave them a little light, even though he wasn’t playing that much.”
Townsend linked up with the Magpies earlier this week, leaving boyhood club Spurs having played just seven games in all competitions this season.
He was not seen as part of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team, and leaves Spurs to start playing more first-team football.
Redknapp believes that the 24-year-old leaving White Hart Lane has left a slight lack of cover in Pochettino’s squad, seeing as no one has bene signed to cover for Townsend’s position.
However, Redknapp is misguided, as Spurs have been performing excellently this season with Townsend not part of the first-team squad.
Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Mousa Dembele and Heung-Min Son can all play on the right wing, whilst Dele Alli, Nacer Chadli, Ryan Mason and Tom Carroll all rotate into that position during games as well.
They are all part of Pochettino’s senior squad, and in the head coach’s favour, and Townsend was never going to play ahead of them.
Redknapp may believe the Spurs squad is looking light having lost Townsend, but Pochettino’s team look in fantastic health in every single position.
